Malaysia Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Tips

Ever wondered how you can get a number 1 or even top 5 ranking in google?

End of the day, anybody that has a website would like people to find it..regardless of whether you are selling something or not.

So what is Search Engine Optimization?

Is it worthwhile paying for? Yes and No. IS there a difference between Malaysian or global SEO?

Every search engine has a different way to index pages or websites. Most people would look at Google (google.com) or Google malaysia (google.com.my) for reference. If you are ranked highly on google for a particular keyword, chances are that you will be ranked pretty high for other search engines as well.

So how is the ranked determined?

In a nutshell, lets look at an sample for “Search Engine Optimization guidelines for Malaysia” website:

  • Title & Description: Make sure every page has a proper title and description in its meta tags. In our case, it could be:
    • Title: Malaysia Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Guidelines
    • Description: A guide to set up Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for your website in Malaysia and around the world. Malaysian SEO.
  • Keywords: insert keywords that you think are relevant to your site. These are phrases people may type in google.
    • Examples: Malaysia Search Engine Optimization, Malaysia SEO, top ranking google, how to be ranked number 1, Malaysian SEO Tips, google sitemaps, meta tagging, meta tags, meta-tags
    • You obiovusly need to make sure that you are actually using those phrases, keywords in the page. Otherwise it doesn’t work
    • Find your niche: You can’t be ranked number one for everything so pick keywords that will give you some niche. if you can’t be number one for “Search Engine Optimization”, settle for “Search Engine Optimization Malaysia”
    • You obliviously need to make sure that you are actually using those phrases, keywords in the page. Otherwise it doesn’t work
  • Incoming links: this is aprt of your Google PR value, your branding. The more sites link to yours, the better. That easy? Well no. It also depends on the quality of incoming links. A link from a site like cnn.com (which has a high PR rank) is better than from a site that has a low PR ranking.
  • Google Sitemaps: make sure you include a google sitemap that tell the crawling google spider what to look for and how to get there.
  • Check your page links. make sure there are no broken links.
  • Submitting your site? Not absolutely necessary but doesn’t hurt. Submitting your site to google will inform google of your site but doesn’t have anything to do with your ranking.

So should you hire an SEO expert in Malaysia or elsewhere?

Up to you, you can do all the above yourself. Even a so called expert can’t do much more than the above. Thats why its called “Search Engine Optimization” and not all they can do is optimize your webpage based on your market niche and to ensure your content is search engine friendly.
Search Engine Friendly Content?

  • Less pictures more content
  • Less flash more content
  • For CMS’ use Search Engine Friendly Links or work with SEO friendly CMS’ like wordpress
  • No broken links
  • Use CSS over tables…pages load faster

  2. hi shasha,

-broken links are links that lead to “no page found errors”…spiders don’t like those

-unfriendly SEO cms links are those with ? characters etc. wordpress uses SEO friendly permalinks

  3. Shasha,

CMS means Content Management System. It enables users to edit pages and add new pages. The PortalWhizz package that you are promoting is a CMS

Wordpress is not really meant to be a CMS. It’s a blogger software. But many people have successfully used it as a CMS.

  4. *grin ;)

  5. amazing how in just a mere 2 days, this post is ranked 2nd for “Malaysia Search Engine Optimization (SEO)” despite so called “stiff competition”….

shows you exactly why don’t have to pay for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in Malaysia or anywhere else. Its all about keyword-content matching….the art of writing and some to make sure your site is spider friendly.

If you were to pay for SEO, this is what you would be paying for. Worth it? Ask yourself.

  6. next gotta optimize it for “Malaysia SEO” and “SEO Malaysia”

hmm wondering if this comment will help ;)
