1. FTP Software - FireZilla
FTP? Yup it stands for File Transfer Protocol but thats not important. What is, is what it does - It helps you to connect to your web server and lets you download, upload, move files and much more between your PC/laptop and web server. You can think of it like your file explorer for the web server.
Which program? We recommend FileZilla. Its free and good.
2. HTML Editor or Web Publisher - Abobe Dreamweaver
Forget about Frontpage. I’d say that over 80% of Windows based web programmers and designer today use Abode Dreamweaver. Its easy to use for basic or advanced web development.

3. Photo Editor - Abobe Photoshop or GIMP
If you are building a website, than you most probably are going to be inserting pictures, logos and other graphics into it. Now the picture you have taken with your digital camera need to be cropped, edited and compressed for the world wide web. For that, you need to use a photo or graphics editor.
Which program? We recommend Abobe Photoshop. If you are looking for a good free photo editor, try GIMP
4. A better Web Browser - Mozilla Firefox
Still using the evil IE? Trash it! Well not quite but if you are looking for a web browser with very cool plugins for web development, you gotta switch to Mozilla Firefox!

5. Web Resources - Its cheaper than you think.
These days, there are endless of free web resources for anything from stock photography, website templates, flash galleries and so much more. Even if you need to pay for something, its a lot cheaper than you think.
